In 2022 a new group was formed, and this group is called Leadership and Diversity. The point of this group is to try and make our school the best it can be. Whether it is trying to improve the curriculum or just build a calming room for students, they try their absolute best to accomplish those goals. So far, they have accomplished getting the high school a calming room where students may visit when they are having a difficult day.
Because of the hard work and the goals that wereaccomplished, the group was invited to speak at the PA School Counselor Association pre-conference event, the Equity Summit: Building Belonging though Equity. This event is happening on Wednesday, December 6 at the Kalahari Resorts and Convention Center in Pocono Summit.
This is a huge honor because they were the only students chosen to speak at the conference. The members of Leadership and Diversity group who are attending are Joshua Katz, Ty Lounsbury, Tati Campbell-Algermon, Namara Palmer, Madeline Struble, Izael Rodriguez, Amiyah Wells, Jaxx Rotolo, Jewel Dickerman, and Leadership and Diversity’s two advisors, Dr. Cara-Jean Dougherty, and Ana Espinosa-Beckworth. The group will be discussing how they originated, the challenges they have faced, and what they plan to do in the future.
If you see any of the nine members, wish them luck for their conference on Wednesday!
