Lakeside Lounge/ Calming Room

The high school has its own “Calming Room,” as some call it. This room is located diagonally from the library, room 252, just before the elevator. “The Lakeside Lounge was developed by students who saw a need to provide their peers with a break throughout the school day.” Mrs. Peppiatt, the advisor of the room, stated. A few upperclassmen along with Dr. Dougherty worked together to apply for a $3,000 grant so they could turn their collaborative ideas into a reality. It worked. Considering what other students would want in a lounge, they ordered everything in the room, thanks to the grant. You can visit this room for up to 10 minutes at a time, but if you need more downtime, you can ask the teachers and they can work something out. While you’re in the lounge, there is a no electronics rule, so you must leave your phones and iPads in the basket on the teacher’s desk. You may get them before you leave, of course. If you ever feel like you need a break from the day, the Lakeside Lounge is always open.
