Top 10 Rom-Coms

Rom- coms have some of the best movies! It has romance and comedy, and who does not love that? By definition, a rom com is a movie that has good dialogue that flows naturally, has a good sense of humor, and has good chemistry between the two protagonists. So today on Top 10, we are going to traverse the best rom com’s that you need to watch. Believe me, you are going to want to watch these iconic films! 

10- FLIPPED (2010)  

Flipped was based off the hit coming of age book, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. Flipped is about a young teen girl, Juli Baker, who falls in love when her new neighbor, Bryce Loski, who moves in across the street. Bryce, however, hated Julie Baker and did everything he could to get her to get rid of that crush. The movie is set during the 1950-60’s. 

The movie is extremely sweet and innocent and is fun to watch as they go from one of the best tropes, “Enemies to Lovers.”

9- ENCHANTED (2007)  

“Enchanted” is a Disney film that was released in 2007 and had become one of the best Disney live action films. “Enchanted” is about a young girl named Giselle who lives in a fairytale land called Andalasia. She wanted to marry Edward, but his evil queen stepmother sends her to New York City. Giselle then meets Robert, who is a divorced lawyer with a young daughter. From there, Giselle must get used to living in New York and do what normal humans do. The film is defiantly a must watch. The film has incredibly good acting, heartwarming, and memorable characters. The movie has exceptionally good music and is, like I said before, one of Disney’s best films.

8- PRETTY IN PINK (1986) 

“Pretty in Pink” is one of the most known films in the 1980’s due to it starring one of the most popular actors of the 80’s, Molly Ringwald. Molly Ringwald plays Andie who is an outcast at her high school. She works at a record store and mostly hangs out with her boss or her classmate Duckie, who has a big crush on Andie. However, when the rich and popular boy, Blane, asks her out she realizes that dating someone in a different atmosphere is not easy. The film is a must watch, and Molly Ringwald is an extraordinarily talented actor.

7- SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984)  

“Sixteen Candles” is another popular film with the talented Molly Ringwald. This film is mostly known due to Molly Ringwald starring in this fabulous film! Molly Ringwald plays Samantha, who’s Sixteen birthday was forgotten about due to her older sister’s wedding. Samantha likes one of the most popular guys in school, Jake, but is scared that she is a turnoff. Meanwhile, Sam must deal with Ted, a nerdy boy who has a thing for her. The film is funny, but a bit slow. However, it is a must watch film with a whole lot of humor and heartwarming moments.

6- WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (1989)  

When Harry met Sally” is one of the most known films in the genre. “When Harry met Sally” is about two college graduates, Sally and Harry who have an argument about whether men and women can ever truly just be platonic friends. They meet 10 years later at a bookshop with their two friends Jess and Maria. The movie is very iconic, and it makes every person watching truly relate to the story. The movie also has incredibly good acting and it starred Carrie Fisher, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal.

5- THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987)  

With all honestly, who does not know “The Princess Bride.” The movie is so well-known and is one of the most iconic films. “The Princess Bride” is about Buttercup, a soon to be princess, and her one true love who she knew as a child. She then gets kidnapped, and her one true love must save her from evil. The movie is a fan favorite, and its cast has a WWE Wrestling Hall of Famer, Andre the Giant. 

4- 13 GOING ON 30 (2004)  

“13 going on 30” was the first known rom com that I watched. I have seen rom coms before this one, but I knew this was a rom com. “13 going on 30” is about Jenna, a now turned 13-year-old, who wants to be older so she can have a boyfriend and an adult life. She then gets to live her fantasy and realizes over time that being an adult is not as easy as it seems. The movie is very enjoyable to watch, and I highly suggest it. You will recognize Jennifer Garner as the star.

3- 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU (1999)  

Who does not know this film? This film is another worldwide rom com. Many people enjoy this film, which is why it’s in third place. “10 Things I Hate About You” is about Kat Stratford, a girl who does not like men and hates the guys in her school. Her younger sister, however, cannot get a boyfriend due to the rule of the house being “She can’t date until Kat starts dating.”  Then Kat, played by Julia Styles, meets Patrick (Heath Ledger), a new guy at their school. The movie is enjoyable, and you should watch it.

2- HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS (2003)  

Another fan favorite film. The film was recently recognized all over TikTok this year when people started posting themselves to the song, “YOU’RE SO VAIN.” The film is about Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), a girl writing for a popular girl magazine, who is making a story about how to lose a guy in 10 days. She uses her experiment on Ben Berry (Matthew McConaughey), who also is using her for a bet, and they soon start to fall head over heels for each other. The movie is very enjoyable, and extremely fun to watch!

  1. CLUELESS (1995) 

Now this is my favorite film! “Clueless” is about a girl named Cher (Alicia Silverstone), a rich and popular girl who thinks of herself as a matchmaker. After she successfully has two teachers fall in love, she tries to give the new girl, Tia (Brittany Murphy), a makeover. After Tia becomes popular, Cher realizes that her ex-stepbrother was right about how misguided she was and falls in love with him. The film is extremely funny, and I absolutely love Cher. I highly suggest that if you have not watched it, go watch it!
