One-Bowl Brownies

By: Lily Struble

Do you hate using 10000 bowls to mix ingredients? “Stir the mixed dry ingredients slowly into the wet.” Me too. I’m a certified hater of over-complicated recipes (if you couldn’t tell by now). Here’s a recipe for brownies, and you’ll only need one bowl!

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter- 1 cup (2 sticks)
  • Chocolate chips- 1 ½ cups (or more! or less, depending on your taste. Measure with your heart!!!)
  • Granulated Sugar 1 cup
  • Light brown sugar- ¾ cup
  • Vanilla Extract- 1 tablespoon
  • Salt- 1 teaspoon
  • Large egg- 3
  • All-purpose flour- 1 ¼ cups
  • Cocoa powder- 1/3 cup
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  • Add 1 cup of butter and 1 cup of chocolate chips to large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 ½ minutes, then let sit for three minutes.
  • Whisk butter and chocolate chips together until incorporated. Should be like a wet goo consistency.
  • Add 1 cup of granulated sugar, ¾ cup of light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Whisk until combined.
  • Take a little taste. You know you want to. (THIS IS BEFORE THE EGGS SO YOU CANT SUE ME FOR PROMOTING SALMONELLA!!!)
  • Whisk in three large eggs.
  • Sift the 1 ¼ cup of flour and 1/3 cup of cocoa powder in. Fold with a spatula until fully mixed. Add the remaining chocolate chips, then fold them in until incorporated.
  • Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper (if you have it) then spray with nonstick spray. Spread the batter as even as possible in the pan.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Clean the mess on your counter and wash dishes while the brownies bake. Let the bowl soak in hot water to get as much batter off as possible. Let cool before cutting and enjoy!!!
