“Phantom of the Opera” is an iconic musical that closed April 16, 2023. The show opened on October 9, 1986. The musical has had 14,000 performances in the past 35 years and has made 8.2 billion dollars worldwide. The main question is, why does everyone love the hit musical so much and why is it so popular? “Phantom of the Opera” is based on the 1910 novel by Gaston Leroux. The book is about a disfigured man who haunts a French Opera house. The disfigured man, Erik, falls in love with Christine Daae and wants her as his own.

The main reason people made this musical so popular is because it has an incredibly good soundtrack. The experience is very memorable, and people know the famous music when it plays. One of the best parts of the musical, and the most memorable, is the chandelier. After the climax in act one, the chandelier swings down and spins above the crowd. The people who acted and sang in the musical are also very memorable. The people who sing have unbelievably beautiful voices and have had the best blocking too. There were 230 costumes used throughout the whole show (which are now up for auction). The plot line was also very memorable, with the story being timed exactly right.

May “Phantom of the Opera” live in our hearts forever.
